I've given up on it predominantly to my heart sinking whenever I hear Andy Parsons say "ladies and gentleman"

Bizarrely I knew about that, I saw him on the voting record when I was pouring over them looking for how Hosie voted (in favour, not impressed, but when the Dundee East alternative is the party of government that proposed it anyway...I'm maybe more of an SNP voter than I first thought).

Still can't really figure out why to be honest...

I don't know...Ian Paisley would have certainly livened it up:

"Do you welcome the Pope's forthcoming visit to the UK?"

"ULSTER SAYS NO!"

A few denouncements of Ratzinger as the Antichrist would have certainly increased the viewing figures.

Although in terms of *seats*, the next one down from the LibDems is the Democratic Unionist Party. Are we to have the Rev. "Dr." Ian Paisley shouting at us from the podium? (The SNP argument for why they should be included is kind of obviously ludicrous if you look at it like that.)
But, yeah. Parliamentary system, collective government, shouldn't be presidential-style (etc. etc.) Also, substance over style plz. Parties used to have ideology in this country (etc. etc.)

I'm finding it incredibly annoying. I've seen no word from them on it apart from Pete Wishart's fallacy filled speech (using the 'free record shop' analogy - *yawn*) in the Commons. I've e-mailed Stewart Hosie three times now with no response (although in fairness none of the Dundee East candidates have responded thus far, but I've e-mailed Hosie more as he is/was the incumbent). Only parties to have actually really brought it up are the Lib Dems and the Greens, who are unfortunately rather irrelevant to huge swathes of Scottish Westminster seats acting under the FPTP system.

Concerned about not being able to discern what the SNP's official position is on this - let alone the waving through of sweeping legislation on some of the most '21st century' industries in the wash-up with little more than a nod and a wink to democracy.

Is it possible that they just don't have enough people in the party who know about the contents of the digital economy bill to do anything else than follow the herd? Worryingly, the only comment i've heard on from any official SNP figure has been from Pete Wishart (SNP MP for Perth & North Perthshire), formerly of the band Runrig; quite happily going along with all sorts of draconian legislation as sledgehammer to walnut re; the filesharing apsects of the bill.

Most disappointing though (as a current SNP supporter) was to find that as far as I can see, only one SNP MP voted in the last reading, they voted for the bill, and it was my own MP Stewart Hosie representing Dundee East.

I was reading The Sun in a coffee shop this morning, and amazingly, they seem to have the most sympathetic write-up of this story. They raised my opinion of them slightly.

Then I read 'The Sun Says...' column, which is essentially 'VOTE LABOUR AND WE WILL ALL BE POOR AND DIE HORRIBLY.', and my opinion of them returned to normal levels.

Still, Becks has done great things for English footy, and this injury does seem to be of the career ending variety. He'll be sadly missed on the field.

The fact that if manufacturers push 3D equipment it will make the leap is quite true, actually. I'm pretty sure I'm on record somewhere, not seeing the point in HD so I'm not a good barometer really.

I have seen the glass-less 3D screens hovering around on gadget blogs. That is the future, when that starts to become affordable and mainstream then I think we'll see a genuine increase. I don't recall many people for instance, taking to HD while the HD-DVD v Blu-Ray battle was ongoing. Why invest in a player that may turn out to be useless. As soon as Toshiba dropped HD-DVD people seemed a lot more willing to invest as it was convenient for them then. Same for 3D - why invest in a 3D capable screen if it will be obsolete in the near future?
