Guitar For Dummies #1

I currently have no musical ability and very little appreciation on a technical level. Don't get me wrong, I can tap along to things in rhythm and when I sing along I'm not sending man and dog alike running for the hills. My musical adventures to date, however, extend to a very short primary school performance (in a group) on a glockenspiel playing Frére Jacques or some sort - rock on. A number of people who know me though may be aware I recently bought an acoustic guitar and I'm now attempting to learn to play it. Seeing as I'm not professing that this blog is some sort of wonderful discourse on modern life I'm going to attempt to chart how this goes with semi-regular posts. I say semi as it's very much second priority unfortunately. I bought the guitar a month ago but work went up a notch, so I'm effectively starting from scratch now (unless you count two chords as 'expertise'...). Don't expect any Hendrix-esque antics, well...ever but wish me luck.

Not content with being a pedant in English, I'll point out that it's Frère Jacques, not Frére Jacques. Minus a half!

Good luck with the guitar learning! You can play a lot with two chords.

Ah yes, but you see I have to learn to move from chord to chord swiftly and efficiently. There's still some finger twisting going on...

And also the French spelling correction is quite a number on the pedantry front, even for yourself!

Hell, just one more chord and you can join Status Quo .....
